This family neighborhood of some 700 homes was designed and built in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The developers, most notably builder Bill Milburn, were very careful to protect and preserve our neighborhood's "mascot" -- the gorgeous trees that surround our homes. This sensitivity to greenbelt preservation makes our relatively young neighborhood seem somehow more "settled in" than so many other neighborhoods of roughly the same age.
But all the gorgeous trees aren't the only reason I have chosen to call Texas Oaks South my home for life. In a nutshell, Texas Oaks South, more than any other neighborhood in South Austin in my humble opinion, offers the most perfect combination of environment; neighborhood parks (Mary Moore Searight Park being the "crown jewel" of the neighborhood); convenient shopping at the brand new Southpark Meadows shopping center); remarkably low crime stats; and affordability.
Take this whole package and place it just a hop, skip and a jump from downtown Austin, the University, and I-35, and you can easily see why I and 700 other lucky homeowners are proud to call Texas Oaks South our home for life.
